How It Happened
HARRISONBURG, Va. – Lebanon Valley scored four goals in the second half and
Rob Hanosek netted a hat trick as the Dutchmen cruised past Eastern Mennonite by a 5-1 score on Saturday afternoon. The Dutchmen improved to 4-3, while the Royals dropped to 3-4-1.
Hanosek netted the game's first goal when he controlled the ball after an EMU turnover and muscled his way through the defenders and scored to make it 1-0 LVC in the 12th minute of action. Later, in the 41st minute, the Royals evened the match at 1-1 after EMU drew a foul in the box and was awarded a penalty kick. Erik Peachey took the kick and scored to knot the game at 1-1 heading into the second half.
The Dutchmen exploded in the second half and netted four goals. The spark proved to be when a Royals' player was called off for a red card, and just 30 seconds later, in the 63rd minute, Hanosek scored his second of the game thanks to
Tanner Therit's assist after a short corner. Just three minutes later, Hanosek netted his third of the game when he tapped in
Braydon Shuck's centering pass to make it a 3-1 score.
Then, at the 85-minute mark,
Caleb Cekella scored his first collegiate goal to give LVC a comfortable 4-1 advantage, and at 89:04,
Anderson Velozwong put the icing on the cake with his first career goal, as the Dutchmen came away with the convincing 5-1 victory.
Inside the Numbers
- Hanosek now leads the team with six goals so far this season after recording the hat trick this afternoon.

Sean Quirk started his first career game and came away with his first victory after making three saves in net.
- For EMU, Ahmed Zaatar and Emmanuel Kampagna combined to make eight saves.

Ivan Jorel finished with three shots on net, while Velozwong and
Kazuya Hirano had a pair each.
- The Dutchmen led in shots at 24-14 and shots on net at 14-4.
- LVC held a strong edge in corners at 8-3.
Who's Next?
The Dutchmen travel to St. David's on Wednesday at 4 p.m. to battle Eastern University before beginning MAC Commonwealth action next Saturday at home against Widener at 1 p.m.
