How It Happened
Lynchburg rode early momentum and a strong defensive effort to a 5-0 victory over Lebanon Valley at Arnold Field in the team's season opener on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 1.

The Flying Dutchmen (0-1) had their fair share of chances throughout the day but were unable to convert any of them into points. The Hornets (1-0), on the other hand took advantage of their opportunities out of the gate, scoring twice in the game's first eight minutes.

Lynchburg added a third marker three minutes into the second half and with LVC's offense unable to finish, effectively created a cushion the visitors could ride the rest of the way.

As the final 35 minutes wound down, Lebanon Valley's aggressiveness paid off in the form of a number of penalty-corner opportunities but again, the Dutchmen were unable to push anything past Hornets' goalkeeper Laurel Nicks.

Isabella Eldridge netted her second marker of the contest for Lynchburg in the 50th minute before Jackie Lerro finished off the day's scoring with a shot that deflected off an LVC defender and into the back of the net with 14:31 remaining.

Inside the Numbers
- Cecile Kat was around the ball for much of the afternoon, finishing with a team-high five shots on goal for LVC.
- Mikayla Poole was the only other Dutchman to get off more than one shot, with three.
- Defenders Tasia Dennis and Alida Steenkamer each made a defensive save.
- Tori ByDeLey made eight saves in goal for the Dutchmen.
- Isabella Eldridge scored twice to lead the way for Lynchburg.
- Emily Dudley added a marker and an assist for the Hornets.
- Lynchburg goalkeeper Laurel Nicks made nine saves in earning the victory.
