ANNVILLE, Pa. – Former Lebanon Valley men's ice hockey captain Sprios Anatas '10 has been named the South Carolina Stingrays' new head coach.
The Stingrays are a part of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) and are an affiliate of the Hershey Bears and Washington Capitals. Anastas spent the last four years as the head coach at Lethbridge University, which is near Calgary, Alberta.
Before his time with Lethbridge, Anastas was an assistant coach in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Grand Rapids Griffins in 2013-14. He began his time with the Griffins as an advanced scouting coach and helped Grand Rapids to a Calder Cup title in 2013.
Prior to his time at LVC, Anastas served as an assistant coach and video coordinator at Western Michigan, working under former NHL head coach Andy Murray. In 2010-11, Anastas served as an assistant coach for the Flying Dutchmen.
The Stingrays are set to announce Anastas as the new head coach at 1 p.m. this afternoon.
