How It Happened
Lebanon Valley opened the 2018 season in impressive fashion, defeating nonconference foe Eastern 4-0 at a rainy Herbert Field on Friday afternoon, August 31.

The Flying Dutchmen (1-0) were paced by newcomer Lucy McGloshen. The freshman turned in a memorable performance in her collegiate debut, scoring a pair of goals, including the game winner, and adding an assist. The rookie opened the game's scoring in the 13th minute with a marker off a feed from Emma Longenecker before netting her second of the half just 1:10 later, this time off a find from Rileigh Jo Evitts.

Evitts got into the scoring act early in the second half when she lofted an attempt into the upper right-hand corner of the net off an assist from McGloshen. Her first score of the season put LVC out in front by three in the 52nd minute.

Sam Machin and Angela Strock teamed up to put a bow on the scoring late in the game when Strock got off an attempt in traffic before Machin cleaned things up with a rebound score that just skirted across the goal line with less than three minutes to play.

Inside the Numbers
- The program continued its recent string of early-season success on Friday, as Lebanon Valley has won its last six season openers.
- The start of the contest was delayed 45 minutes due to lightning in the area.
- LVC's defensive unit was strong in the win. The starting unit of Caity Howett, Emma Longenecker, Lea Dungan, and Brianna Mumma held Eastern to just two shots on the day with neither coming on goal.
- The Dutchmen held a 16-2 advantage in total shots and a 6-2 margin in corner kick opportunities.
- In her first collegiate outing, Lucy McGloshen led the way for LVC with a pair of scores and one assist.
- As she has been in years' past, Rileigh Jo Evitts proved effective on the offensive end with one goal and a helper.
- Sam Machin and Angela Strock provided some offense off the bench, as the pair hooked up for the contest's final marker.
- Freshman goalkeeper Serena Donmoyer did not have to make a single save in picking up the first victory of her career.

Who's Next?
