How It Happened
READING, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's baseball team was shut out by Sean Esch and the Alvernia Golden Wolves by a 4-0 score on Friday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth baseball action. The Dutchmen dropped to 10-21, 6-13 MACC, while Alvernia improved to 27-10, 15-4 MACC.

The Golden Wolves jumped out to an early lead and plated three runs in the bottom of the first. Nathan Sides singled home Dillon Dunne, followed by Franco Esposito's two-RBI single to left center. From there, LVC's starting pitcher Brenden Ward settled down and didn't allow another run until the bottom of the sixth when Colin Rieger doubled down the left field line to score Alex Salesky to make it a 4-0 game.

Throughout the game's entirety, the Dutchmen were unable to figure out the Golden Wolves' Sean Esch, who tossed a complete game and allowed a pair of its to earn his fourth win of the season.

Inside the Numbers
 - Bryan Towers and Jon Harned provided LVC's hits this afternoon.
 - For the Golden Wolves, Sides finished with two hits and Esposito recorded two RBI and two walks.
 - Ward tossed 5.2 innings and gave up three earned runs while striking out four.
 - Ryan Showalter pitched a pair of scoreless innings in relief for LVC.

Who's Next?
LVC and Alvernia finish up their regular-season series tomorrow in a doubleheader at McGill Field. First pitch of game one is set for 12 p.m.
