How It Happened
GRANTHAM, Pa. – Lebanon Valley couldn't solve Messiah starting pitcher Quinton Kuntz and dropped a 5-0 contest to the Falcons on Friday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth baseball action. The Dutchmen slipped to 9-18, 5-11 MACC, while Messiah improved to 9-16, 5-9 MACC.

LVC saw a golden chance to score one or more runs in the top of first, but Kuntz was able to pick off a pair of runners and escape the inning unscathed. In the bottom of the second, the Falcons got to LVC starting pitcher Brenden Ward when Austin Mellinger singled through the left side to plate a pair of runs. Later in the frame, Ryan Hentschel delivered an RBI-double to right field to increase Messiah's advantage to 3-0 and Austin Janney hit a sacrifice fly to cap the Falcons' four-run frame.

In both the top of the fourth and the fifth, the Dutchmen got a runner on base, but LVC grounded into a double play in both innings and were unable to score. In the top of the eighth, Bryan Towers began the inning with a single up the middle, and later Josh Herring singled to shortstop, but LVC was again stifled by Kuntz and couldn't push a run across the board.

At the Plate
 - Herring went 2-for-3 at the plate and also drew a walk.
 - TJ Holdredge, Michael Leri, and Towers each registered a hit.
 - Messiah was led by Dan Wiederrecht, who went 3-for-4 with two runs scored.

On the Mound
 - Ward tossed a complete game (eight innings) and struck out four batters.
 - Kuntz also went the distance for the Faclons and allowed five hits while striking out five.
