How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. – Elizabethtown scored 12 runs in the first three innings and Lebanon Valley was unable to come back and fell to the Blue Jays 17-6 on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference baseball action. The Dutchmen slipped to 9-17, while E-Town improved to 9-13.
The Blue Jays put together a six-run first inning and followed it up by plating two more in the second. In the bottom of the second, LVC got on the board when
Colin Albright hit a sacrifice fly to score
Michael Leri and make it 8-1. Later in the frame,
Trevor Bertsch continued a solid season when he hit a two-run double to left center to score
Josh Herring and
Josh Willey to bring the Dutchmen to within five at 8-3.
E-Town responded, however, with a four-run third inning to increase its advantage to 12-3 and put the game out of reach.
TJ Holdredge singled home Bertsch in the bottom of the seventh and in the bottom of the ninth, Holdredge hit a sacrifice fly to plate
Ethan Hurd, but it was not enough as LVC went on to fall 17-6.
At the Plate

Josh Herring went 3-for-3 and scored two runs.
- Bertsch and
Marty Kiessling each recorded a pair of hits and Bertsch had two RBI.

Evan Hartman registered his first collegiate hit.
- The Blue Jays outhit the Dutchmen 20-11.
- For E-Town, Anthony Knight and Nick Lorenz had two hits each.
On the Mound

Nolan Benke pitched 2.2 innings in relief and allowed just an earned run.

Joey Bassett didn't allow an earned run in 1.2 innings.
- For the Blue Jays, Anthony Lippy earned the win after throwing two innings of relief.
Who's Next?
LVC begins a pivotal three-game set with Messiah on Friday in Grantham at 3:30 p.m. before the two teams meet in a doubleheader on Saturday at 12 p.m. in Annville.
