READING, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's men's tennis team kept on rolling to its third victory in four days with a dominant 9-0 sweep of MAC Commonwealth foe Alvernia on Saturday afternoon, April 14.
It was all LVC (8-6, 3-1 MAC Commonwealth) from the get go as the visitors won all three doubles matches by wide margins.
Blake Martin and
Reed Morris won the battle of the top duos by an 8-1 score against Michael Brophy and Jimmy Souder, as did
Ben Hinkley and
Elliott Kleckner over Craig Grohoski and Mitchell Sterkenburg in the No. 3 outing.
Jordan Heavel and
Luke Senft did them one better and made it a clean 8-0 sweep over Todd Unger and Brad Viggiano in the second contest.
It was more the same in singles play with the Golden Wolves (1-7, 0-3 MAC Commonwealth) having no answer for the Flying Dutchmen. Martin earned a hard-fought 4-6, 6-4, 10-6 victory against Brophy in the No. 1 showdown, Morris bested Souder 6-3, 6-2 in the number two slot, and Heavel defeated Unger 6-4, 6-4 in the No. 3 contest. Senft took care of Viggiano 6-0, 6-2 in the fourth matchup, while Kleckner and Hinkley each came away with 6-0, 6-0 sweeps in the No. 5 and No. 6 pairings, respectively.
The Dutchmen will look to keep their recent success going when they return home to host Arcadia for another conference outing at the Shankroff Tennis Center on Wednesday afternoon.
