How It Happened
FREDERICK, Md. – Lebanon Valley was narrowly defeated by Hood 4-3 on Saturday in game one of a doubleheader. The Dutchmen fell to 9-15, 5-9 MAC Commonwealth, while the Blazers improved to 25-5, 9-5 MAC Commonwealth.

Nate Luscombe kept LVC's offense in check for the majority of the game and Hood's offense provided a pair of the runs in the bottom of the first, followed by a run in both the second and fourth inning, giving the Blazers a 4-0 advantage heading into the top of the seventh.

The Dutchmen's offense woke up in the top of the seventh when Bryan Towers singled down the right field line to plate Josh Herring. Later in the inning, Josh Willey hit a pinch-hit, two-run single to center field to score Towers and Trevor Bertsch, making it a 4-3 contest. Then, after a pitching change, Michael Leri hit a fly ball to right center, but Hood made a sliding catch in the gap to end the game at 4-3.

Inside the Numbers (Game One)
 - Holdredge finished with two hits.
 - Willey recorded two RBI, while Bertsch drew a pair of walks.
 - For the Blazers, Cam Esposito, Alex Staton, and Joe Kroeger notched two hits each.
 - Brendan Ward pitched all six innings and scattered 10 hits while striking out two and allowing four earned runs.
 - Luscombe earned his sixth win of the season for Hood and Jake Howell got the save.

How It Happened
In game two, the Dutchmen dropped another one-run game thanks to a walk-off by Hood in the bottom of the seventh. In the top of the first, LVC hopped out to an early 1-0 lead when Marty Kiessling's reached on a fielder's choice that plated Bertsch.

Dylan Stephen was rolling on the mound for the Dutchmen until the top of the sixth when Dylan Johnson singled home Nathan Kessler to tie the game at 1-1. Later in the inning, Drake Friend hit a single to center field to plate Johnson and put the Blazers up 2-1 heading into the top of the seventh.

Josh Herring tied things up for LVC in the top of the seventh with a single to score Nolan Benke, but in the bottom of the seventh, Johnson reached on a throwing error with the bases loaded to win the game 3-2.

Inside the Numbers (Game Two)
 - Jon Harned went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Dutchmen.
 - Daymond Zweizig drew a pair of walks at the plate.
 - Stephen pitched well but took the loss after tossing 6.2 innings and allowing two earned runs while punching out three.
 - After getting a save in game one, Howell earned the win in game two after relieving starter Brad Sawyer in the top of the seventh with two outs.

LVC hosts non-conference opponent Ursinus tomorrow at 2 p.m.
