How It Happened
Lebanon Valley's offense had its opportunities but struggled to convert those chances into points during the team's 7-3 loss to Susquehanna at Arnold Field on Thursday afternoon, March 8.
The Flying Dutchmen (2-3) struggled on the faceoff and SU (3-2) took advantage of its offensive looks despite getting off one less shot attempt than LVC.
Dustin Fisher was Lebanon Valley's top scorer on the day, finishing with a pair of markers on just four shots, while
Matt Torrence provided the team's second goal of the contest to go along with three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
LVC got on the board first when Fisher put his attempt past SU goalkeeper Dylan Abplanalp at the 7:53 mark of the first quarter but the River Hawks closed out the period with three unanswered goals, all of which came in the final five minutes.
In the second quarter, 12 and a half scoreless minutes elapsed before the visitors padded their advantage with a pair of markers just before halftime, including a man-up goal with just seven seconds remaining before the break.
After falling behind by as many as five goals in the second half, the Dutchmen made a late push when
Matt Torrence went low to beat Abplanalp with 12 ticks left in the third quarter and Fisher made a pretty move from behind goal to score his second marker of the game early in the fourth period.
LVC's offense got a couple of good looks over the next seven minutes but the scores the team needed to get back into it never materialized and Susquehanna put things out of reach with the game's final goal with 4:03 left to play.
