How It Happened
Lebanon Valley's baseball team dropped its MAC Commonwealth and home opener to Arcadia by a 5-3 score on Saturday afternoon at McGill Field. The Dutchmen fell to 3-6, 0-1 MAC Commonwealth and the Knights improved to 7-2, 1-0 MAC Commonwealth.
The visitors jumped out to a 3-0 lead thanks to a run in the top of the first followed by a pair of runs in the top of the third. In the bottom of the same inning,
Chris DeClerico got LVC on the board with an RBI-single to plate
Jon Harned, then
Colin Albright singled through the left side later in the frame to score DeClerico, bringing the Dutchmen to within one at 3-2.
In the bottom of the fourth, Harned hit a sacrifice fly to score
Josh Herring and tie the game, however Arcadia's Nick Cardace broke the 3-3 tie in the top of the seventh with a two-run homerun to left center and LVC was unable to come back in the bottom of the frame, resulting in the 5-3 defeat.
At the Plate
- DeClerico finished with a pair of hits, including a double, one RBI, and one run scored.
- Harned went 1-for-2 with a run, an RBI, and a stolen base.
- For Arcadia, Phil Pierfy went 4-for-4 with two runs scored.
On the Mound

Kyle Kingsbury tossed four innings and allowed two earn runs with two strikeouts and didn't factor into the decision.

Matt Blocksom went 1.2 innings in relief and didn't allow an earned run while striking out two.

How It Happened
In game two of the doubleheader, LVC offense was stymied by Mike Boulanger, who pitched a complete game. The Dutchmen's record moved to 3-7, 0-2 MAC Commonwealth, while the Knights jumped to 9-2, 2-0 MAC Commonwealth.
Arcadia scored the contest's first four runs, including a Nick Ponente sacrifice fly in the second and Luke Hohenstein's RBI-single to left center in the fifth. The Dutchmen got a run in the bottom of the fifth when
Trevor Bertsch roped an RBI-double to right center to score Albright, but that was all LVC was able to do, as the Dutchmen left eight runners on base en route to the 4-1 defeat.
At the Plate
- DeClerico went 2-for-4 at the plate for LVC.
On the Mound

Josh Marcelli was dealt the loss despite tossing a complete game. He allowed six hits, four earned runs, and struck out two.
- Arcadia's Boulanger allowed one earned run in seven innings and struck out eight.
