How It Happened
A slow start doomed Lebanon Valley in the team's 11-3 non-conference loss at King's (Pa.) on Friday afternoon, March 16.
Mason Hoff had a nice individual outing, recording the hat trick by scoring all three goals for the Flying Dutchmen (4-3).
Coleman Wagner led the defense with six ground balls and
Barrett Campbell caused a team-high three turnovers.
The Monarchs (2-3) raced out to a 3-0 lead before Hoff finally got the visitors on the board when he put his attempt past King's goalkeeper Matt Basile off a
Kevin Beaver assist at the 5:21 mark of the opening quarter.
LVC's push was short lived, however, as the Monarchs ended the first half with three consecutive scores to push the advantage to 6-1 heading into the break.
The tandem of Hoff and
Max Warmingham took over in the third quarter, as the pair hooked up for back-to-back markers at the 8:06 and 6:50 mark of the period, respectively. With the deficit cut to a more manageable 6-3, the Dutchmen appeared to be back in it midway through the third.
King's responded with a barrage to end the quarter, however, scoring four goals before the period was out and adding an insurance score with 6:21 left in the fourth to put the finishing touches on a rough offensive outing for Lebanon Valley.
