SPARKS, Md.
John Haus, son of Lebanon Valley men's lacrosse head coach John Haus and former Maryland standout, will represent the United States when the national team competes in the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) Men's World Championship in Netanya, Israel from July 12-21.

U.S. national team head coach John Danowski named Haus to the 23-player travel roster after whittling down the group from its original 48 members following last month's Team USA Spring Premiere at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.

"I am very proud of my son for all of his accomplishments both on and off the field," said LVC's Haus. "Earning a roster spot on the U.S. national team might be the pinnacle of his outstanding lacrosse career."

Following an incredibly memorable playing career as a Terrapin, Haus was drafted by the Hamilton Nationals of Major League Lacrosse (MLL) with the 15th overall selection of the 2013 draft. He was acquired by the Charlotte Hounds via trade and has been stellar ever since. The midfielder is a two-time MLL All-Star and has served as a team captain for the Hounds since 2015.

Haus recently signed on as an assistant on Jeff Tambroni's coaching staff at Penn State. Prior to joining the Nittany Lions last July, he served as the offensive coordinator at Furman for two years. His success in player development was tangible, as he mentored Southern Conference Freshman of the Year Lou Yovino in 2017.

At Maryland, Haus put together an impressive career that saw him earn USILA All-America honors on three occasions, including first-team recognition following his senior season in 2013. He was a three-time All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) performer and he helped lead the Terrapins to an ACC Championship in 2011. Haus is one of five former Maryland players to be named to the 2018 U.S. national team; the most of any institution.

Since 1967, the U.S. has won the gold or silver medal at every men's international world championship in field lacrosse. The U.S. won gold in 1967, 1974, 1982, 1986, 1990, 1994, 1998, 2002, and 2010, while finishing as the runner-up in 1978, 2006, and 2014. Haus and his teammates will have a final training weekend in late June before heading to Israel in early July for the world championship event.

"Our family cannot wait to watch John play for the U.S. team during the 2018 World Games in hopes of bringing home the gold," said LVC's head coach.

For the elder Haus, this spring will be his ninth as head coach for the Flying Dutchmen after taking charge in bringing lacrosse back to Lebanon Valley in 2010 after 25 years without the program. He's led LVC to five MAC Commonwealth postseason appearances, while most recently, guiding Austin Minnich '17 to the USILA/Nike Division III North/South All-Star Game. Minnich also earned USILA/Nike Scholar All-America and IMLCA All-Region (2x) recognition under Haus' watch.

Haus and his squad open their 2018 campaign in two weeks when they host Delaware Valley at Arnold Field on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 24.
