Record-Breaking Men’s Lacrosse Season Ends in MAC Freedom Semifinals

HOBOKEN, N.J. – The Lebanon Valley men's lacrosse team saw its outstanding record-breaking season come to an end in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom semifinals on Wednesday afternoon with a defeat at 10th-ranked and top-seeded Stevens Institute of Technology. The Ducks won by a score of 28-3 at the DeBaun Athletic Complex in Hoboken, New Jersey.

The Dutchmen finished the season with a program record 13 wins while losing just five games. They set program records in points with 358, goals with 233, and shots on goal with 502. They also tied the assist record with 125. LVC went 5-2 in conference play to qualify for the MAC Freedom Championship for the first time since switching over from the MAC Commonwealth.

Stevens (16-2) didn't take the Dutchmen lightly after LVC gave the Ducks one of its toughest conference games earlier this month. The Ducks jumped out to a 12-0 lead, scoring 10 times in the first quarter and then adding a pair of goals in the first couple of minutes of the second quarter. Stevens outshot the Dutchmen 27-2 over the first 15 minutes, with LVC's lone shot on goal coming in the first 30 seconds by Rowan Myers after Connor Rowe won the opening faceoff on a violation. Rowe won four faceoffs during the opening quarter and picked up his 100th ground ball of the season.

Ethan Keenan got LVC on the board with his 24th goal of the season off an assist by Myers with 10:43 to play in the half. The Ducks responded with three goals over the next eight minutes. Hayden Carling had a shot saved before Sean Poole cut the deficit to 15-2 with his 40th goal of the year. Ryan Grace found the senior open for the assist on the goal. Carling and Grace had two quick shots saved before the Ducks scored right before the half ended to push the advantage to 16-2.

Stevens had another dominant quarter in the third, scoring eight goals on 15 shots. Myers started the half with a shot saved. Grace had a shot blocked and then a shot saved midway through the quarter. Myers and Carling had shots saved in the final few minutes of the quarter. Stevens added three more goals in the first two minutes of the fourth quarter. Poole scored his second goal of the game with 10:51 on the clock. The Ducks ran out the possession clock over the rest of the game, scoring just one final goal with five minutes to play.
