How it Happened
ASTON, Pa. -  A consistent Neumann University team pulled away from Lebanon Valley and edged the Dutchmen 3-1 this afternoon in UCHC women's hockey action. The Dutchmen fell to 2-9-0, 1-7-0 UCHC, and the Knights improved to 2-8-0, 1-6-0 UCHC.

LVC was the first to get a shot off just 16 seconds into the game when Mychaela Pitta ripped one, but it was saved by Neumann's Helen Cooney. It was a well-matched period as both teams were playing a strong offensive game. The Knights ended up finding the back of the net 12:33 into the period when Kyleigh Prance scored from Syd Ladwig and Mollie Johnson. The Dutchmen had a scoring opportunity when a penalty was called on Neumann's Braeden Ott for tripping and LVC got three shots off, but were unable to exploit the defensive deficit. The Knights led in shots on goal at the end of the first with 15 and the Dutchmen posted seven.

Neumann tallied up another goal off a power play 7:14 into the second. LVC fought back, however, with five minutes to go in the period when Olivia Cindrich found the back of the net off assists by Pitta and Chloe Glass. Moffatt was challenged in the second as the Knights had 19 shots on goal as LVC had seven.

Lebanon Valley, trying to push the game into overtime, pulled Moffatt leaving an empty net with 19 seconds left in the third period. Amy Templeman was able to get a shot off, but it was blocked by Squires. Neumann gained control of the puck and Katelyn Brown scored an empty-netter with one second left in the game to give the Knights the 3-1 victory.
