How It Happened
Lycoming pulled away late in the second half to defeat Lebanon Valley 63-54 on Wednesday night in MAC Commonwealth men's basketball action inside Sorrentino Gymnasium. The Dutchmen fell to 2-6, 0-3 MACC, while the Warriors jumped to 5-3, 1-2 MACC.

Down by just three at 36-33 with 16:27 remaining in the second half, Jeremy Deihm made a layup, bringing LVC to within one at 36-35. After Lyco went back up by five at 42-37, Zach Tucker sank two consecutive free throws at 14:27 to make it a three-point game at 42-39. From there, the Dutchmen hung around and didn't let the Warriors run away with the contest, as Jordan Abdo nailed a 3-pointer with 5:04 left to bring LVC to within eight at 58-50.

Then, with 2:09 to go, Abdo hit a jumper in the paint to bring LVC to within six at 60-54, but Lyco's D'Yante Doughty responded with a huge trey that proved to be the dagger, as his bucket from beyond the arc put the Warriors back up by nine at 63-54, and the advantage was too large for LVC to come back from, as Lyco held on for the eventual 63-54 win.

The Dutchmen hopped out to an early 8-4 lead after Trevor Covey's free throw made it a four-point advantage with 12:26 left in the first half.  The Warriors, however, answered with a 17-7 run spanning over six minutes of action to take a 21-15 advantage with 6:06 remaining. For the rest of the first half, Lyco held on to their advantage, but with 56 seconds left, Tucker made a layup to cut the Warriors lead at 31-25 heading into second-half action.

LVC opened up the second half with a 6-0 run, capped by back-to-back free throws from Abdo to knot the game at 31-31 with 17:58 left. On the ensuing possession, Markanthony Fidelis came down the court and knocked down a three to end LVC's run and put the visitors back on top at 34-31. The Warriors never relinquished their advantage from there and went on to take the game 63-54.
