How It Happened
READING, Pa. – In a rematch of last season's MAC Commonwealth Championship game, Albright got the best of Lebanon Valley, downing the Dutchmen 86-56 on Saturday afternoon. LVC dropped to 2-5, 0-2 MAC Commonwealth, while the Lions improved to 3-4, 2-0 MAC Commonwealth.
The game began tight as
Jordan Abdo nailed a triple with 12:52 remaining in the first to put the Dutchmen on top at 9-7. Back and forth action continued until it was 14-14, as Albright scored six consecutive points to take a 20-14 advantage with 7:47 to go. At 6:44, the visitors cut the deficit to just two with
Justin Baker's layup, but the Lions responded with a 19-10 run for the remainder of the half to extend their lead to 15 at 39-24 after one half of action.
Albright's tough defense and clutch shooting didn't allow a comeback of any sorts by LVC. Every time it looked like the Dutchmen could go on a run in the second half, the Lions were always there to spot a spurt or knock down a shot when they needed one. With 16:43 left, Baker hit a layup and was fouled in the process, resulting in a three-point play that brought LVC to within 13 at 46-33. Albright quickly answered by scoring five consecutive points to increase its advantage to 18 at 51-33 with 15:53 to go.
That was the closest that the Dutchmen would get in the second, as the Lions eventually extended their lead out of reach for LVC, and the visitors eventually fell 86-56.
