How It Happened
HARRISBURG, Pa- Similar to yesterday, Manhattanville used a big period to propel itself past Lebanon Valley on Saturday afternoon at Twin Ponds East. The Dutchmen dropped to 2-8-0, 1-7-0 UCHC, 0-2-0 in the MAC, while Manhattanville improved to 7-0-1, 6-0-1 in UCHC and 5-0-1 in the MAC, a good enough MAC mark to clinch the conference.
Manhattanville scored just 41 seconds into action this afternoon when Janet Xu found the back of the net from Brayden James and Ellis Smith.
Darby Seymour and
Chloe Glass both got a shot off 3:56 into the game but both were saved by Lexi Crites, who was making her first start of the season between the pipes for Manhattanville. LVC got a power play at the 15:04 mark of the first, as Pellowitz was called for interference, but the Dutchmen were not able to capitalize on the opportunity. LVC had another power play in the first period after Brayden James was called for an inference penalty to end the first period.
LVC started the second period with a power play opportunity that carried over from the first, but the Dutchmen couldn't capitalize. The Valiants got another goal 4:30 into the period to put them up 2-0.
Jill Moffatt got peppered by an array of shots following the goal and stopped all but one, which was blasted in by Amanda Sabia to give the Valiants a 3-0 lead. Later, with under four minutes remaining in the second, Nicole Mensi made it 4-0 in favor of Manhattanville and the Dutchmen went into the final period down by four.
LVC had three power plays in the third period but could not capitalize on any of them even though they got their most shots on the evening in the third period. Crites stayed strong in goal for the Valiants and the Dutchmen couldn't find an opening in the net, resulting in the 4- 0 defeat.
