How It Happened
RYE, N.Y. – Lebanon Valley's
Brett Johnson scored with 54 seconds remaining in the third period to tie the game against Manhattanville and send the game into overtime. After neither team could score in the first overtime, the game went into a second overtime where Johnson scored to help the Dutchmen earn another point against the Valiants. The Dutchmen moved to 2-1-1, 1-0-1 UCHC, while M-Ville now sits at 0-1-2, 0-1-2 UCHC.
With 1:20 remaining in the third, the Valiants' Matt Lippa found the back of the net to break a 1-1 tie and put M-Ville up 2-1 with just over a minute remaining in the third. After an LVC timeout, the Dutchmen pulled their goalie for an extra attacker. Soon after, with 54 seconds remaining, Johnson scored to tie the game again, this time at 2-2.
In the first overtime, the Dutchmen had a few scoring chances, but were unable to find the back of the net. The contest then went into another overtime where Johnson scored. Due to newly-implemented UCHC rules, the game officially ended in a tie, but LVC earned an extra point thanks to Johnson's tally in the second overtime.
M-Ville scored the first period's lone goal with 4:40 left in the first when Casper Dyrssen broke the 0-0 tie. Then, early on in the second period,
Tino Alunni evened the game at 1-1 off an assist from
Cole Hepler.
Inside the Numbers
- Johnson finished with a goal on a team-high seven shots, while he skated to a +1 rating.

Nick Sorgio made 28 saves in the tie, including 15 in the opening period.

Justin Hall and
Tyler Romel registered four shots on goal apiece.
- The Valiants held a slight edge in total faceoff wins at 34-33.

TJ Sneath went 10-of-14 from inside the faceoff circle.
