How It Happened
HERSHEY, Pa. – Manhattanville netted three third-period goals to pull away from and eventually down Lebanon Valley 5-1 on Friday afternoon in UCHC and MAC women's ice hockey action. The Dutchmen slipped to 2-7-0, 1-6-0 UCHC, 0-1-0 MAC, while the Valiants improved to 6-0-1, 4-0-1 UCHC, 4-0-1 MAC.

Manhattanville took a quick lead just 1:16 into the first period when Nicole Mensi scored net off an assist from Janet Xu, but just over two minutes later, LVC struck back on the power play when Amy Templeman's seeing-eye wrist shot from the point found the back of the net to even the game at 1-1 in the opening period. The Valiants saw many scoring chances throughout the remainder of the period, but Jill Moffatt stood tall and the game remained tied after one period of action.

Mensi registered another tally 1:36 into the second period to give Manhattanville a 2-1 lead from Ellis Smith and Xu. Soon after, the Dutchmen drew a penalty and went to the power play where Mychaela Pitta had two good scoring chances, but Rose Pijaca made a pair of back-to-back saves to preserve her squad's lead. Midway through the second, LVC went back to the player advantage after Amanda Sabia went off for hooking, followed by another Valiants' penalty just 28 seconds later to give the Dutchmen a 5-on-3. Manhattanville buckled down on defense and survived the two-player advantage, but took just a one-goal lead heading into the third.

The Valiants broke things open in the third and the Dutchmen were unable to recover. Sabia started things off at 7:05 with a PP-goal, followed by a pair of goals from Tianna Lopes that came just 45 seconds apart. LVC applied late pressure, but couldn't get out of the four-goal hole and eventually fell 5-1.
