How It Happened
PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's women's ice hockey team travelled to the Frozen Pond Arena this evening and was narrowly defeated by Chatham University by a 2-1 margin in each teams' United College Hockey Conference (UCHC) opener of 2018-19. The Flying Dutchmen moved to 1-2, 0-1-0 UHCH, while the cougars jumped to 1-2-0, 1-0-0 UCHC.

After the first period went scoreless, the second is where all the bulk of the action occured. Chatham was the first to see the back of the net with an unassisted goal that went over the shoulder of Jill Moffatt by Madison Black 9:30 into the period. Nearly four minutes later, the Cougars put another one on the board with a goal from KiraJean Frost assisted by Michelle Jones to make it a 2-0 score. Less than a minute later, however, at 14:04, Chloe Glass netted a goal with an assist from Taylor Brynteson to bring the Dutchmen to within a goal at 2-1 heading into the third period.

In the third, the Dutchmen had eight shots on goal before deciding to go with an empty net with 27 seconds left while on the power play. Lebanon Valley was able to put a shot up but it was saved by Chatham's Devon Strachan and the Cougars held on for the narrow win.
