William Smith jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead when Julia Mings netted an unassisted tally 6:29 into the first. Just over three minutes later, Alison Weiss gave the Herons a 2-0 advantage with a goal from Morgan McMinn and Lindsay Brown. Later in the period, Mychaela Pitta had a scoring opportunity, but Olivia Williams was there in net for William Smith to make the save. The Dutchmen got a late power play with just under four minutes left in the first but the Herons' defense stood tall and blocked a pair of LVC shots to hold on to their two-goal lead after one period of action.

In the middle period, Emily Martino padded William Smith's lead at 8:44 with a goal, and with just under three minutes remaining in the second, Kate Klimaszewski netted a power-play score to increase the Herons' advantage to 4-0. LVC had a few scoring chances again, but were unable to convert and the visitors went into the third period ahead by four.

In the early going of the third, Emma Stillwaggon let off a shot, but Williams was again there for the save. Then, the Dutchmen saw two good scoring chances back-to-back, but Williams stoned Jade Julius and Chloe Glass. Soon after, the Herons made it a 5-0 contest, and then with the Dutchmen on the power play, William Smith's Lindsay Brown broke free and scored an unassisted short-handed goal at 12:18 and the Herons went on to take the game 6-0.
