How It Happened
Lebanon Valley dominated Bryn Athyn 73-40 to reach the championship game of the 2018 Rinso Marquette Tournament. The Dutchmen picked up their first win of the young season and improved to 1-2, while the Lions fell to 0-2.
LVC jumped out to a 9-2 start in the first four minutes, capped by
Cassiah Ray's 3-pointer. Later in the first, the Dutchmen continued to pour it on, and with 1:42 left,
Jen Eck knocked down a pair of free throws to give LVC a commanding 19-4 advantage after one quarter of action.
The Dutchmen carried the first quarter's momentum into the second and they opened up a dominant 29-point advantage with 3:59 left after
Morgan Bamberger knocked down a trey to give LVC a 35-6 lead. After Bryn Athyn made a free throw at 2:37 to make it a 35-7 score, Bamberger hit a layup to give the Dutchmen their largest lead thus far at 37-7 with 2:20 left in the second quarter. Heading into halftime, LVC held an impressive 40-11 advantage.
In third quarter action, the Dutchmen continued to lead big and with 2:56 left, an
Anne Lehr layup gave the Dutchmen a 31-point lead at 55-24. In the fourth, the home squad achieved its largest lead of the game when
Tamara Hanson connected on a layup to make it a 64-31 game with 5:49 remaining. Hanson took over from there, netting back-to-back layups at 3:04 and 2:42, followed by another layup with 54 seconds remaining, as the Dutchmen cruised to impressive 33-point win at 73-40.
Inside the Numbers
- Lehr ended with a team-high 15 points and she added a pair of rebounds, three assists, and four steals.
- Hanson chipped in 11 points off the bench off 4-of-7 shooting and she brought down five boards.
- Eck was also in double-digits in points, finishing with 10 to go along with six rebounds.

Emily Mealey corralled a team-high 10 rebounds and added eight points.
- Bamberger posted eight points, four steals, and four rebounds.
- Bryn Athyn was led by Clayshonia Cogmon, who scored a game-high 19 points.
- The Lions' Allie Warren added 10 points.
- The Dutchmen shot 40.9-percent from the field compared to Bryn Athyn's 25.0-percent.
- LVC turned 30 Bryn Athyn turnovers into 29 points.
- The Dutchmen held the edge in second-chance points at 11-4.
- LVC dominated in bench points at 39-7 and in points in the paint at 32-18.
Who's Next?
LVC is set to battle Gettysburg tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the Rinso Marquette Championship game inside Sorrentino Gymnasium. Gettysburg defeated Juniata 73-66 to advance to the championship.
