Lebanon Valley def. Norwich 3-1 (25-8, 25-13, 23-25, 25-18)
How It Happened
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – In Lebanon Valley's opening match of Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts' Tri-Match, the Dutchmen took on Norwich and defeated the Cadets 3-1.
The Dutchmen put together one of their most impressive sets of the season in the opening set against Norwich. LVC jumped out to a 10-1 advantage and later extended it to 17-4. The Dutchmen continued their strong lead and with LVC up 22-8,
Jess Attieh,
Amanda Sides, and
Mikiah Sangrey each registered a kill to finish off the Cadets 25-8 in the first set.
Much like the first set, the Dutchmen cruised in the second set and beginning set on an 11-3 spurt. Norwich attempted to come back and got to within nine at 19-10, but Attieh and Sides recorded back-to-back kills, followed by Attieh's service ace to put LVC up 22-10. The Dutchmen went on to win the set 25-13 to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
After narrowly falling 23-25 in the third set, LVC opened a 12-2 lead in the fourth set. Then, with the Dutchmen up 15-10, the Cadets scored five straight to come to within five of LVC at 15-10. Norwich continued to hang around, but the Dutchmen held off the Cadets and Attieh finished them off with a kill to give LVC a 3-1 victory.
Inside the Numbers vs. Norwich
- Attieh went for 18 kills and an unheard-of .900 hitting percentage. The senior added four service aces, five blocks, and five digs.

Reina Eckman and Sides chipped in eight kills apiece.

Jensen Burnheimer led the way in assists with 35 and she added four kills and eight digs.

Reily Shelly guided LVC in digs with 10, while
Emily Smeltz added nine.
Lebanon Valley def. MCLA 3-0 (25-18, 25-11, 25-14)
How It Happened
In the Dutchmen's final match at MCLA, LVC swept away the hosts 3-0 to earn its second win of the day. After today was said and done, the Dutchmen improved to 11-8 overall this season.
In the first set, LVC picked up where it left off against Norwich after opening a 10-2 lead against the Trailblazers. The Dutchmen continued to lead the set and MCLA came to within six at 20-14, but LVC never let it get any closer en route to a 25-18 first-set win.
The Dutchmen continued to dominate in the second set and began the set on a 9-2 run. The Trailblazers came to within four at 12-8, but back-to-back kills by
Amber Deshong and Sangrey put the Dutchmen up by six at 14-8. Then, with LVC up 15-10, the Dutchmen scored 10 of the final 11 points to take the second set 25-11.
LVC scored the first eight points of the third set, capped by
Olivia Gregory's kill, to go up 8-0 and force MCLA to burn an early timeout. The Trailblazers tried to fight back, but the Dutchmen never let them come to within striking distance and won the set relatively easily at 25-14 to complete the sweep.

- Attieh again led the offense after ending up 15 kills, 10 digs, and six blocks.
- Eckman tallied six kills and four digs.
- Burnheimer finished with 16 assists, while Gregory picked up nine assists.
- Smeltz led the way in digs with 13, while
Alexa Pattinson and
Erin Koons added six digs.

LVC is back in action tomorrow when the Dutchmen battle Skidmore at 1 p.m in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
