How It Happened
Lebanon Valley's volleyball team earned its second consecutive victory via the sweep with a 3-0 thrashing of Albright on Wednesday night in MAC Commonwealth action inside Sorrentino Gymnasium. The Dutchmen improved to 9-8, 2-2 MAC Commonwealth, while the Lions fell to 6-9, 0-5 MAC Commonwealth.
LVC dominated action in the opening set, jumping out to a 9-4 lead thanks to a 6-0 spurt when the Dutchmen were down 4-3. Later in the set, Albright came to within four at 14-10, but LVC got a kill from
Jayna Class, a Lions attack error, and a kill from
Jess Attieh to go up by seven at 17-10. Then, with the Dutchmen up 18-11, LVC scored the final seven points of the set, and Attieh closed it out in style with a kill from
Jensen Burnheimer, as the Dutchmen won the first 25-11.
The middle set was back-and-forth early on with LVC holding a narrow 13-11 lead, but the Dutchmen went on a critical 8-0 run, including two straight service aces from Class, to take a commanding 21-11 lead. LVC went on to hold comfortably and take the second set 25-13.
In the third set, the Dutchmen jumped out to an 11-5 advantage and continued to hold a solid lead until at 20-12 when the Lions scored four straight to come to within four at 20-16. Once again, however, LVC shut the door late in the set when the Dutchmen scored the final five points in the set, and
Reina Eckman notched a kill to end things at 25-16.
Inside the Numbers
 - Attieh went for 15 kills and a .600 hitting percentage to lead LVC offensively. The senior added a service ace and six digs.
 - Class chipped in six kills and a match-high three service aces.
 - Burnheimer finished with 19 kills.

Erin Koons added 14 assists and six digs.

Kaitlyn Reed tied for the team high in digs with six, while
Reily Shelly had five digs and six kills.
 - LVC finished with a .372 hitting percentage as a team.
Who's Next?
The Dutchmen head to North Adams, Mass. on Saturday for Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts' Tri-Match. LVC takes on the hosts at 1 p.m. before battling Norwich at 3 p.m.
