LVC Splits to Wrap Up Regular-Season Action

Lebanon Valley 3, St. Mary's College of Maryland 1 (25-17, 25-13, 22-25, 25-12)

How It Happened vs. St. Mary's (Md.)

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Lebanon Valley's volleyball team finished up its regular season by competing at Bridgewater's Tri-Match against the Eagles and St. Mary's (Md.) The Dutchmen edged St. Mary's 3-1 in the opening match.

The Dutchmen opened up the first set with two kills from Jess Attieh. LVC then went on a four-point run creating a five-point spread to make the score 6-1. The Seahawks kept the hope alive, however, when St. Mary's tied it up at 16-16, but three LVC kills and an attack error by the Seahawks gave the Dutchmen another four-point run. Lebanon Valley took the first set 25-17, ending it with an ace on a five-point run.

The second set started off different than the first with the Seahawks taking the a 5-2 early lead with two bad sets and an attack error. LVC kept pushing on and went on a five-point run with three kills coming from Attieh and two hitting errors from St. Mary's. LVC continued this trend and went on two more point runs creating a nine-point gap (21-12). The Dutchmen finished off the set with another four-point run, three of those coming from Seahawk attack errors, to win the set 25-13.

After St. Mary's edge LVC in the third set, the fourth and final set was much like the first two. LVC started off strong with a four-point run by Amanda Sides. The Seahawks tried to come back, but the Dutchmen wouldn't let up and went on another four-point run, forcing St. Mary's to call the first timeout (11-4). The timeout seemed to help in the short-term, but with three hitting errors and two service aces, LVC went on a six-point run creating an 11-point spread (17-6). Errors continued to be the downfall for the Seahawks with the fourth set being the lowest hitting percentage for the match at -.118.
