How It Happened
SHELTON, Conn. – Lebanon Valley's women's ice hockey team fell in its 2018-19 season opener by a 3-0 margin to Post University on Friday afternoon. The Dutchmen went to 0-1-0, while the Eagles improved to 2-5-1.
LVC opened up the game with a solid scoring chance just 42 seconds in, but Jenna Baumgartner made the save on
Darby Seymour's shot. Shortly after, the Dutchmen took a penalty, but were able to kill it off despite several shots, but
Taylor Borrelli and
Jennifer Wilson each notched a few blocked shots. Throughout the rest of the first period,
Jill Moffatt and Baumgartner didn't allow any shots to go in, and the teams went into the first intermission knotted at 0-0.
The Eagles, however, broke through in the second period, netting all three of their tallies in the span of just over two minutes. Molly Brumfield scored at 14:59, then Julia Schatz found the back of the net from Kendall Fitzgerald at 16:38, then Paige Dundas added a goal at 17:13 for Post. From there, the Dutchmen were unable to mount a comeback and eventually fell by a 3-0 margin.
