How It Happened
READING, Pa. – Lebanon Valley scored a goal in each half and
Serena Donmoyer didn't allow a goal in the Dutchmen's 2-0 victory over Alvernia on Tuesday night. LVC picked up its first conference win and improved to 5-3-1, 1-1 MAC Commonwealth, while the Golden Wolves fell to 2-7-2, 1-1 MAC Commonwealth.
15 minutes into the first half,
Katie Goldsmith crossed a ball into the center of the box where Alvernia's goalkeeper Lily Sankey fumbled the pass, allowing
Lucy McGloshen to gather the ball and score to give the Dutchmen a 1-0 lead. For the remainder of the half, LVC held the Golden Wolves off the scoreboard and went into halftime clinging to a 1-0 advantage.
In the 73rd minute, with the Dutchmen still leading 1-0,
Lea Dungan put the game out of reach when she scored on a free kick for the second time this season with a kick from right down the middle of the field. Donmoyer and LVC's defense held off Alvernia for the rest of the match and came away with their first MAC Commonwealth win of the season.
