How It Happened
Lebanon Valley fell to No. 2 Messiah by a 4-0 margin on Wednesday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth women's soccer action. The Dutchmen dropped to 5-4-1, 1-2 MACC, while the Falcons improved to 11-1, 4-0 MACC.
Maddie Kohl got things going to Messiah in the 20th minute of action when she received a pass from the right side from Sarah Strachan. Kohl headed it home to give the Falcons the 1-0 advantage despite LVC controlling the action in the early going. Messiah doubled its leas in the 29th minute when Megan Mansfield elevated a shot from the left side and off the finger-tips of
Serena Donmoyer and into the back of the net. LVC hunkered down on the defensive side of the ball from there and went into halftime down by just two.
An early goal in the second half put the game out of reach, however, as Brooke Firestone scored her 12th of the year, and Mansfield added her second of the game late, as one of the top teams in the country proved to be too much for LVC.
Inside the Numbers
-
Carly Kleintop and
Lucy McGloshen each registered a shot for the Dutchmen.
- Donmoyer did all she could but was eventually charged with the loss after stopping seven balls.
- The Falcons led in corners at 6-1.
Who's Next?
LVC returns to action on Saturday when the Dutchmen host Stevenson for a 1 p.m. game on Homecoming.
