LVC generated a few early scoring chances when Lucy McGloshen got a shot off in the sixth minute, however it was blocked. The freshman had another chance just two minutes later, but her touch when just wide of the cage. Later in the half, in the 20th minute, Rileigh Jo Evitts ripped a shot on goal, but Caffrey was there to make the save for Stevenson. In the first half, the Mustangs had two shots on net, but Serena Donmoyer stopped both and the teams went into halftime tied at 0-0.

Each squad's defense continued play well in the second half, but in the 81st minute, the Dutchmen generated a corner kick, but nothing came of it. Then, LVC saw one of its best scoring chances of the game in the 86th minute after a pass into the box, but Cheyenne Scott's attempt sailed just high, resulting in an overtime period.

In the first extra period, neither team could generate much offense, but after an LVC corner in the second, Evitts got a shot off but it sailed wide right. Also in the second OT, the Dutchmen limited Stevenson's two corner kicks and eventually the match ended it a 2-2 draw.
