How It Happened
FREDERICK, Md.Peter Foerster scored an early goal and Lebanon Valley's defense took over from there, as the Dutchmen blanked Hood 1-0 on Wednesday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth men's soccer action. LVC all-but locked up a spot in the playoffs and improved to 8-4-1, 4-1 MACC, while the Blazers fell to 7-6-1, 1-5 MACC.

Just 8:33 into the match, Foerster ran down the left side and broke free of a defender and ripped a low shot that stayed on the ground the entire way, but it was hit hard enough to go past the diving goalkeeper and into the back of the net for the contest's lone goal.

Later in the first, in the 22nd minute, Hood was threating when AJ Lewis lifted a header shot on goal, but Sean Quirk was there to make the save and keep the game scoreless. For the remainder of the half, LVC wasn't tested and went into halftime clinging to a one-goal advantage.

In the early going of the second half, the Blazers began to get more shots on net, but each time Quirk was there to keep the Dutchmen ahead. In the final minutes of action, Hood saw some more scoring opportunities, but Robert Ellerson's header went just wide and LVC eventually hung on for the 1-0 shutout-victory.

Inside the Numbers
 - Foerster's goal was his first-ever collegiate tally.
 - Kazuya Hirano and Ivan Jorel recorded a shot on goal each.
 - Quirk picked up the victory in net after making six big saves.
 - The Blazers led in shots at 15-8 and shots on goal at 6-3.
 - LVC held a strong edge in corner kicks at 9-4.
