How It Happened
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – In its opening game of the New Year, Lebanon Valley's women's ice hockey team fell to Sacred Heart by a 9-0 score on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action. The Dutchmen now sit at 2-7-2, while the Pioneers jumped to 16-4.
The game was scoreless until 9:22 of the first period when SHU's Olivia Bryant made it a 1-0 lead for the Pioneers. Six minutes later, SHU made it 2-0 when Elizabeth Collins found the back of the net. That score held up after one period of action and LVC stayed within striking distance of the Pioneers.
SHU put the game out of reach in the second period thanks to five goals and the Pioneers added a pair of tallies in the second period and went on to win by a 9-0 margin.
