GRANTHAM, Pa.
– Lebanon Valley's men's and women's swim teams were in action at Messiah on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 27. The men dropped a 135-97 decision to the Falcons and the women fell 166-82 but there were a number of Flying Dutchmen who turned in strong individual performances at the event.

The men were once again led by standout Ian Lloyd, as the senior earned a pair of individual victories in the 200y fly and the 100y fly, respectively. He dominated the 200y race and bested the runner-up from Messiah by nearly nine seconds thanks to a time of 2:00.60. Lloyd followed it up with by swimming a 53.79 in the 100y event; nearly three seconds quicker than the Falcons' first finisher.

Fellow senior Chris Kurtz was also strong, with his top effort of the day coming in the 200y breast. The upperclassmen touched in 2:36.15, earning maximum points for LVC as the team's lone competitor in the race.

Youngster Gabe Dimisa also had a memorable afternoon thanks to his qualifying for the upcoming Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championships in the 50y free and the 100y fly. The freshman's time of 24.01 in the sprint was good enough to earn him a runner-up finish in the event and he followed it up with a 1:02.82 in the fly race to add another qualification to his first-year resume.

The women again showcased their depth in Saturday's matchup, with distance swimmer Sarah Wolfe emerging victorious in the 500y free with a time of 5:57.89, Courtney Betsock earning maximum points in the 200y IM when she touched in 2:27.14, and a number of their teammates turning in runner-up efforts.

Wolfe herself was second in the 1,000y free and Betsock nearly won the 50y free thanks to her swim of 27.68 in the race. Kaitlyn Welch's 1:08.28 in the 100y back was good enough for the runner-up spot, while D'Anna Sydow's 1:11.61 clinched a second-place finish in the 100y fly.

There's no rest for LVC as the Dutchmen return to action on short rest when they travel to Lycoming tomorrow afternoon for their final competition of the regular season. Lebanon Valley will then set its sight on next month's annual MAC Championships in York, Pa.
