How It Happened
MAHWAH, N.J. – Lebanon Valley fell to Muhlenberg 3-2 and Ramapo 3-1 to finish up action at the Ramapo Quad on Saturday afternoon in non-conference volleyball action. The Dutchmen now sit at 10-7 overall on the season.
Muhlenberg Match
In today's opening match, LVC jumped out to a 2-1 lead in the match, but were unable to hold on and eventually fell 3-2.
In the fifth set, the Mules led early on at 3-2, but three consecutive points from the Dutchmen put LVC ahead 5-3. Muhlenberg answered with a 5-0 run, however, to take an 8-5 lead and forced LVC to take a timeout. The timeout seemed to work, as the Dutchmen got two kills from
Amber Deshong and one from
Amanda Sides to come even with the Mules at 8-8.
When it was tied 9-9, the Mules rattled off three consecutive points and again LVC burned a timeout to attempt to stop the momentum. After Sides recorded a kill to bring the Dutchmen to within two at 12-10, Muhlenberg was able to score the match's final three points, two kills and a service ace, to take the set 15-10 and the match 3-2.

Jess Attieh finished with 15 kills and Sides had 14, while
Nina Mentzer chipped in seven.

Jayna Class registered five blocks and Attieh had four with
Jensen Burnheimer adding three.
 - Burnheimer led with 44 starts and
Abbey Barnhart dug out 24 balls.
Ramapo Match
LVC battled the host school in the finale but lost a four-setter. The Dutchmen won the second set 25-19 and in the game, LVC jumped out to a 6-3 lead, but the Roadrunners scored four in a row to take a 7-6 advantage. The game remained back-and-forth until when it was 13-12 Ramapo, The Dutchmen went on an impressive 6-0 run to go up by five points at 18-13.
Ramapo came to within four at 23-19, but a kill by Sides and a Roadrunners' attack error clinched the set for LVC at 25-19.
Inside the Numbers (Ramapo)
 - Deshong led the way for LVC with 18 kills, while
Reina Eckman chipped in eight.
 - Burnheimer and
Erin Koons had 24 assists apiece.

Emily Smeltz dug out an impressive 26 balls.
 - For the Roadrunners, Larysa Iwaskiw racked up 38 kills, the second-most in Ramapo history.
Who's Next?
LVC hosts a pair of non-conference opponents during the week next week. The Dutchmen welcome Penn State Harrisburg to Sorrentino Gymnasium at 7 p.m. on Tuesday before welcoming Elizabethtown to Annville on Thursday for a 7 p.m. match.
