How It Happened
GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's men's soccer team earned its signature win so far in 2017 when the Dutchmen blanked No. 20 Gettysburg 2-0 on Wednesday night in non-conference action. LVC jumped to 4-1-1, while the Bullets suffered their first loss of the season and now sit at 5-1.

Over the last 10 matches, Gettysburg had been undefeated at home (7-0-3) dating back to the 2015 season, however the Dutchmen ignored that fact and went out and picked up a huge W.

The game remained scoreless until the second half, more specifically the 48th minute when Tyler Skye sent a pass from the right to Mitch Crane, and Crane one-touched the ball from the left post past the Bullet's net minder for the critical 1-0 advantage.

That one goal was plenty for Cam Avery and the Dutchmen's defense, however the offense gave the defense a bigger cushion in the 75th minute when Youssef Ouayakhaf delivered the ball to Tanner Therit who dribbled around the defender a shot it from the left side and into the back of the net, sealing the game at 2-0.

In the second half, Avery kept Gettysburg off the scoreboard with several key stops. With around 30:25 remaining, the Bullets put together a good scoring chance with a header from point-blank range, but Avery saved it. Then, with about 27 minutes to go in the match, the Bullets' ripped a ball from the right post, but the senior goalkeeper saved that one as well. Finally, with about six minutes and 30 seconds left, he stopped a low shot from the doorsteps of the net to preserve the shutout.

Inside the Numbers

 - The Bullets outshot the Dutchmen 14-5 and 5-3 on net.
 - Gettysburg also led in corner kicks at 9-3.
 - LVC has now won two games in a row, both via shutout, and all four of the Dutchmen's win this season are shutout victories.
