How It Happened
DALLAS, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's women's soccer team battled No. 24 Misericordia to a 1-1 tie on Wednesday evening in non-conference action. The Dutchmen remained undefeated and now sit at 2-0-2, while the Cougars moved to 4-0-2.
After neither team was able to score in the first half, early on in the second, in the 48th minute,
Katie Goldsmith dished a pass to
Teanna Shutt who broke the scoreless tie and found the back of the net for her fourth of the season to give LVC a huge 1-0 advantage.
That score line held until the 81st minute when Jordyn Powell tied the game at 1-1 off an assist from Alex Gallagher. The second half remained scoreless and both squads went into overtime.
In the fourth minute of overtime, the Dutchmen saw a quality scoring chance after
Casi Swope's nearly-perfect corner kick, but Goldsmith's attempt drilled the crossbar, keeping the game scoreless. Later in the first overtime, the reigning United Soccer Coaches D-III National Player of the Week,
Rileigh Jo Evitts, saw another good scoring opportunity, but Misericorida's Alyssa Pojero stopped the shot to preserve the tie and force another overtime period.
Evitts created two more scoring chances in the second extra frame, but Pojero stopped one and another attempt sailed high and LVC and the Cougars both settled for a 1-1 draw.

What They're Saying
"We knew coming into this game it would be a battle and that's exactly what it was," said head coach
Leah McDermott. "This group has come a long way in the short time we've been together, and I know we are going to going keep on getting better. We certainly haven't arrived at where we can be yet, and that's a good thing."
Who's Next?
Non-conference action for LVC continues on Saturday when the Dutchmen welcome Elizabethtown College to Annville for a 1 p.m. game.
