How It Happened
Lebanon Valley was shut out by an undefeated Haverford squad in a 2-0 loss at the Fords' Swan Field on Wednesday night, Sept. 13.
The Flying Dutchmen (2-3) had an early scoring opportunity when
Maddie Fox fired off an attempt in the second minute but Haverford goalkeeper Danielle Rette made the save.
LVC goalkeeper
Tori ByDeLey had a strong showing on Wednesday, making four saves in the first 14 minutes before the Fords (5-0) finally snuck one by her when Casey Wakai put her shot into the back of the cage with 25:12 left in the first half.
Fox got another look in the 23rd minute but Rette turned her away for a second time and the score held heading into halftime.
The Fords put the pressure on early in the second half and after ByDeLey turned away four of their attempts in a four-minute span, the home team broke through again in the 44th minute when Lucy Tortolani added an insurance marker off an assist from Rachel Gordon.
Madeleine Brown tried to cut the deficit in half with 20 minutes remaining but Rette made the stop. By the time
Jenna Lysakowski got off a shot-on-goal in the 68th minute, LVC's offensive aggressiveness proved too little, too late.
