How It Happened
Lebanon Valley opened its 2017 campaign in exciting fashion by earning a 3-2 come-from-behind overtime victory over Cabrini on day one of the annual Drew Fall Festival in Madison, N.J. on Friday afternoon, Sept. 1.

Regulation proved too little time for the squads to settle their season opener but the Flying Dutchmen (1-0) needed just 25 seconds of the extra session to come away with the victory, as Cecile Kat netted her first collegiate goal in the 70th minute to give LVC the walk-off victory in thrilling fashion.

The Dutchmen trailed 2-1 at the break but Olivia Poltonavage buried the equalizer less than seven minutes into the second half, sparking a final 28-minute span that was dominated by Lebanon Valley in terms of shot opportunities.

The Cavaliers (0-1) struck first when Sara Johnsen found the back of the cage off a Brittany Smith assist in the 13th minute but Taylor Pentz deflected home the first collegiate marker of her career less than six minutes later to draw her team even. Poltonavage came through with the assist thanks to a well-placed shot attempt.

Nearly 10 scoreless minutes followed but Maddy Worley ended the drought when she gathered a blocked shot and was true with the rebound in the 28th minute, giving Cabrini a one-goal advantage that held heading into halftime.

It Was Over When…
Freshly arrived at Lebanon Valley from the Netherlands less than two weeks ago, it was freshman Cecile Kat who came up clutch in crunch time. She corralled a rebounded shot and fired her attempt past Cabrini goalkeeper Taylor Bookman just 25 seconds into overtime, sealing LVC's dramatic season-opening victory in the process.

Standout
Olivia Poltonavage – The senior defender did a little bit of everything on Friday, including assisting on LVC's first goal of the season and netting the equalizer early in the second half. She ended the night with a game-high three points.

Inside the Numbers
- Freshmen Taylor Pentz and Cecile Kat each netted the first collegiate goals of their career.
- The Dutchmen dominated in the shots category (26-10), including finishing with a 19-6 shots-on-goal advantage.
- Pentz led the way with five shots. Maddie Fox got off four attempts, while Kat, Casey Dombroski, McKenna Lupold, and Madeleine Brown tallied three apiece.
- Cabrini held a slight 8-7 edge in penalty corner opportunities.
- The Cavs' Taylor Bookman made 16 saves in goal, while LVC goalkeeper Tori ByDeLey needed just three stops to secure the victory.
