How It Happened
Lebanon Valley hung around but could never quite make the game-changing push it needed in the team's 9-6 loss to Messiah at Arnold Field on Wednesday afternoon.
After the Flying Dutchmen (7-7, 1-5 MAC Commonwealth) erased a two-goal deficit tied and tied the score at 4-4 midway through the third quarter, the Falcons (7-4, 5-0 MAC Commonwealth) took control of the contest by scoring three consecutive goals to end the period and begin the fourth.
Brett Kudlak slowed the Messiah momentum by scoring his third goal of the game off an assist from running-mate
Klayton Garman with 12:10 remaining but the Falcons converted the game's next two scores, leaving LVC with little time to mount a comeback effort.
Garman completed the hat trick by capping the contest's scoring with a man-up goal off a feed from
Max Warmingham with 11 seconds left to play.
The Dutchmen trailed 3-2 at halftime and eventually fell behind by two before Kudlak netted back-to-back goals off assists from Warmingham and
Matt Torrence, respectively, midway through the third quarter to draw his team even with the visitors.
