How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley fell into an early hole it couldn't come out of and fell to Scranton 9-4 in non-conference baseball action on Monday afternoon. The Dutchmen slipped to 16-13, while the Royals jumped to 11-14.

After Scranton jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, the Landmark-Conference opponent plated three more in the top of the third to increase its lead to 5-0. LVC got things going in the bottom of the third and scored four runs to come to within one at 5-4. After Zac Edwards singled to start the frame, Chris DeClerico roped a triple to left center to score Edwards. Later, Marshall Kiessling single home Michael Puglisi and DeClerico to make it 5-3, and Joshua Marcelli finished off the scoring in the third with an RBI-double to left center.

That, however, was all the offense the Dutchmen provided, as Scranton's reliever Bobby Hegarty held LVC's hitters in check throughout his 5.2 innings pitched. The Royals added two in the fourth, and a run in each the fifth and the ninth to eventually come away with the 9-4 victory.

Inside the Numbers
 - Edwards paced LVC's offense by going 4-for-5.
 - DeClerico finished the day 2-for-4, including a double and a triple.
 - Kiessling went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored.
 - Dylan Stephen suffered his first loss of the season and allowed two runs in two innings pitched.
 - Scranton's Hegarty tossed the final 5.2 innings to earn his first win of the year. He allowed four hits and struck out a pair.

Who's Next?
The Dutchmen continue non-conference action when they host Eastern University on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
