How It Happened
FORT PIERCE, Fla. – Lebanon Valley picked up its second consecutive sweep on Wednesday afternoon, defeating Monmouth College (Ill.) 9-4 and 1-0 on its spring break trip in Fort Pierce, Fla. In the nightcap,
Tregg Liebel and
Philip Berry combined for a one-hitter on the mound.
In the opening contest, the Dutchmen continued to score runs early, recording two runs in the top of the first off a two-RBI single by
Colin Albright. After the Scots got one back in the bottom of the first, the Dutchmen added five in the top of the second to go up 7-1.
Chris DeClerico started off the inning with a sacrifice fly, then
Michael Puglisi singled through the left side to plate
Trevor Bertsch.
Joshua Marcelli followed by reaching on an error that scored
Joshua Herring, then Albright was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score Puglisi.
Chase Weik finished off the inning with an RBI-single to center that scored Marshall Kiessling.
Corey Sell took over from there as he shut down Monmouth's offense for the most part and the Dutchmen coasted to victory.
Inside the Numbers (Game One)
 - Sell earned his first win of the season, going 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs with five strikeouts.
 - Puglisi, Kiessling, Albright, Bertsch and Herring collected two hits apiece with Alright recording a game-high three RBI.

Ryan Showalter was solid in relief, tossing 1.1 innings while giving up just an earned run and two strikeouts.

How It Happened
The second game was completely different with
Tregg Liebel and Jason DeCicco locked in a pitcher's duel. Neither pitcher gave in until in the top of the sixth, Kiessling roped a double to center with one out. After Kiessling stole third, Marcelli stepped up and ripped a single up the middle to score Kiessling for the game's lone run.
Inside the Numbers (Game Two)
 - Liebel was outstanding for the Dutchmen, throwing five innings and giving up just one hit, a single in the top of the second, with three strikeouts.
 - Berry came in relief for the final two innings and earned the win.
 - The Scot's DeCicco threw six innings and scattered seven hits and struck out four.
 - Marcelli finished 3-for-3 at the plate.
Who's Next?
LVC looks to stay hot in its final day in Florida tomorrow. The Dutchmen are set to take on Kenyon College in a doubleheader set for 10 a.m.
