How It Happened
Lebanon Valley suffered its first defeat in nearly a month when the team dropped a 14-2 decision at Stevenson in its MAC Commonwealth opener on Tuesday night.
The Flying Dutchmen (6-2, 0-1 MAC Commonwealth) struggled offensively and managed just five shots on goal. Time of possession also favored the Mustangs (4-3, 1-0 MAC Commonwealth) thanks to the home team winning 15 of 19 face-offs on the night.
Stevenson scored early and often, netting four goals in the first quarter and adding three more in the second to take a commanding 7-0 advantage into halftime.
The Mustangs added two more markers early in the third quarter before reigning MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week
Klayton Garman finally got the Dutchmen on the board with a strike off an assist from
Max Warmingham with 6:09 remaining in the period.
The home team responded with three consecutive goals to end the third quarter before adding back-to-back scores to begin the fourth.
Matt Torrence finally broke through for LVC's second goal of the contest to cap the game's scoring with 12:03 left to play.
