How It Happened
A 50-plus minute scoring drought cost Lebanon Valley in its 8-2 loss at MAC Commonwealth rival Widener on Saturday night, April 1.
The Flying Dutchmen (6-3, 0-2 MAC Commonwealth) looked poised to hang tough with one of the conference's top teams of recent years when reigning MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week
Klayton Garman netted the game's first goal off a
Matt Torrence assist at the 12:31 mark of the opening quarter.
Before the first quarter was out, the Pride (5-4, 2-0 MAC Commonwealth) had drawn even thanks to a Shane Taylor marker. The second period saw all of its scoring come courtesy of the home team, as Widener netted three more to take a 4-1 advantage into halftime.
After the break, it was more of the same as the Pride scored three times in the final six minutes of the third quarter.
Brett Kudlak finally ended the drought for Lebanon Valley when he put his attempt past Widener goalkeeper Matt Horton with 6:17 left to play. Garman tallied his second point of the night thanks to an assist on Kudlak's score.
The home team added one last marker for good measure when Chris Sanchez put home an unassisted score with 3:55 remaining.
