How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. – After picking up a road victory at Hood on Friday evening, Lebanon Valley split with the Blazers at McGill Field on Saturday afternoon to win the weekend series against its MAC Commonwealth foe. LVC (8-5, 2-1 MAC Commonwealth) won the opener today 11-3 before falling to the Blazers (5-8, 1-3 MAC Commonwealth) 3-1 in the nightcap.
Joshua Marcelli got things going early for LVC when he drove in
Chris DeClerico and
Michael Puglisi on a single in the first to make it 2-0 Dutchmen, however Hood answered in the top of the second when Baldwin singled home Johnson to cut LVC's lead in half at 2-1. The Dutchmen increased their lead in the bottom of the second when Puglisi hit a two-RBI double that scored
Bryan Towers and
Nick O'Shea, making it a 4-1 contest before DeClerico singled home Puglisi to make it 5-1. Finally in the second, Marcelli roped a single to plate DeClerico and put LVC up by five at 6-1.
After the Blazers came to within four at 7-3 in the top of the fourth, the Dutchmen responded when O'Shea hit a two-RBI single in the bottom of the frame to put LVC ahead by six at 9-3. Then, in the sixth, the Dutchmen put the game out of reach with an RBI-single from Towers and a sacrifice fly by DeClerico, as LVC went on to the easy 11-3 win.
Inside the Numbers (Game One)
- Marcelli led the way by going 3-for-3 with three RBI and a run scored, while DeClerico also recorded three hits and plated three runs.
- Towers, Kiessling and O'Shea added three hits apiece.

Corey Sell pitched well to earn his second win of the season. The senior tossed five innings and gave up three earned while striking out seven.
Eric Marrero relieved Sell and chucked two innings and didn't surrender a run while striking out two.
- As a team, the Dutchmen racked up 15 hits compared to Hood's eight.

How It Happened
In the nightcap, the Blazers' Schweizer was able to silence LVC's potent offense, holding the Dutchmen to just a single run. Hood got on the board and made it 2-0 in the top of the fourth when Patterson tripled home Johnson and Greenberg, then Friend recorded an RBI-groundout to make it a 3-0 contest. The Dutchmen's lone run came in the top of the fifth when Puglisi doubled to score DeClerico, but that's all the offense LVC could muster and the Dutchmen fell 3-1.
Inside the Numbers (Game Two)
- Berry notched two hits in game two to lead the way for LVC.
- Despite taking the loss, the Dutchmen outhit the Blazers six to five.
- Marcelli got the start on the bump and threw 3.1 innings and allowed three earned runs to go along with four strikeouts.
- Hood's Schweizer threw 5.1 innings and allowed an earned run on six hits, while striking out five.
