How It Happened
HERSHEY, Pa. – Lebanon Valley tied with Penn St. University's club team 2-2 on Friday night in the Dutchmen's final home game of their inaugural season. With the game being against a club squad, LVC's record and stats did not change. The Lady Ice Lions' record moved to 3-16-1.
Eleanor Donaher broke a 0-0 tie 7:06 into the first period when she jammed one past PSU off an assist from
Madison Humes. The Lady Ice Lions got even, however, with three and a half minutes remaining in the first with a goal from Riley O'Connor and the two teams were locked at 1-1 heading into the first intermission.
Neither team was able to light the lamp in the second, so we went into the third period tied at 1-1. 8:22 into the third, PSU's Rachel Kapoian broke the tie off an assist from Rachel Cole, but the Dutchmen were able to strike back with less than four minutes remaining and even the score when Elaine Tarasiewicz found the back of the net from
Taylor Borrelli and
Brenna Smith. Both teams had a few chances in the closing minutes, but the game eventually moved to overtime.
Each squad was able to record two shots on goal, but Megan Lydick and LVC's
Jillian Moffatt stood tall and didn't allow a goal, resulting in the 2-2 draw.
