How It Happened
HERSHEY, Pa. – Lebanon Valley dropped a 7-0 contest to Sacred Heart on Saturday afternoon in non-conference women's ice hockey action. The Dutchmen now sit at 2-6-2, while the Pioneers improved to 12-3.
The two teams were playing solid defense for the majority of the opening period until SHU exploded for three goals in the span of under three minutes, including tallies from Jayne Lewis, Victoria Grimmer, and Taylor Moreland, as the Pioneers went into the first intermission with a 3-0 advantage.
In the second period, SHU notched a pair of goals and went into the third period with a 5-0 advantage despite some late pressure by LVC. The Dutchmen were able to apply some more pressure in the third, but had nothing to show for it thanks for some good goaltending by the Pioneers' back-up goalie, Kayla Walewski. SHU found the back of the net two more times in the final period and went on to win by a 7-0 margin.
