How It Happened
PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's women's ice hockey team earned its first win of the 2017-18 season on Saturday in the third-place game of the Commonwealth Cup, hosted by Chatham University. The Dutchmen took down King's (Pa.) by a 4-1 score and got goals from four different players. LVC improved to 1-2-1, while the Monarchs dropped to 0-2-0.

The game was scoreless throughout most of the first period, until Nikki Lloyd scored with 19 seconds to go in the period off a pass from Chloe Glass, and the Dutchmen went into the locker room with a narrow 1-0 advantage.

In the second period, the Dutchmen picked up two more scores to give themselves some separation from King's, who are in their inaugural season. Nina Pugliese scored an unassisted goal at 9:33 before Taylor Borrelli found the back of the net just a minute later and Glass notched her second assist of the game. After two periods of action, LVC was up 3-0.

6:41 into the third period, the Monarchs netted their first-ever goal when Josee Aitken scored an unassisted goal, but eight minutes later, the Dutchmen put the game out of reach when Emma Stillwaggon scored and Glass picked up her third assist of the game and Borrelli added her second point of the night.
