PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Chatham University used a four-goal third period to defeat Lebanon Valley 6-1 on Friday afternoon in non-conference women's ice hockey action. The Dutchmen now sit at 0-2-1, while the Cougars improved to 1-0-0.
Chatham was able to score the first two goals of the game, as Emma McFarlane scored 12:31 into the first, then Kristina Block found the back of the net five minutes later, and the Cougars went into the first intermission with a 2-0 advantage.
In the early going of the second period, at 17:42, LVC's
Emma Stillwaggon cut into Chatham's lead and scored off assists from
Nikki Lloyd and
Amy Templeman. Neither team could find the back of the net for the remainder of the period, and the Dutchmen were down by just a goal heading into the third period.
The Cougars broke the game wide open in the final period, scoring just two minutes into the period and following it up with another score just 49 seconds later. Chatham went on to score two more goals and held on for the 6-1 win.

 - Lloyd won seven faces on the evening and Humes won six.

The Commonwealth Cup hosted by Chatham concludes tomorrow when LVC takes on the loser of King's (Pa.) and Neumann.
