How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. – Elizabethtown's hot shooting in the second quarter put Lebanon Valley in a hole that it couldn't climb out of, resulting in an 80-62 defeat at the hands of the Blue Jays on Wednesday night in non-conference women's basketball action. The Dutchmen dropped to 2-2, while E-Town also now sits at 2-2.

LVC began the game on a 6-0 run, with all six points coming on layups from Caroline Scarff. The Blue Jays stayed in it, however, thanks to the three-ball. E-Town later cut the Dutchmen's advantage to three at 14-11 with 4:07 remaining in the first off a trey from Abby Beyer. Then, with 1:16 left in the opening quarter, Beyer struck for another 3-pointer to tie the game at 19-19. Veronica Venezia hit a jumper with 45 seconds remaining, though, and LVC held a 21-19 lead after one quarter of play.

The Blue Jays continued to shoot the ball well in the second quarter, which proved to be the difference in the game. E-Town knocked down four triples in the second and outscored LVC 22-7 in the quarter to take a 41-28 advantage heading into halftime.

Coming out of the break, the Blue Jays continued to pad their lead and were ahead by as many as 23 points in the third quarter. The Dutchmen, however, refused to let E-Town run away with it and kept within striking distance after three quarters of action and were down by just 17 at 62-45 heading into the fourth.

LVC began the fourth on a 10-2 run to cut the Blue Jays' lead to single digits at 64-55 with 5:07 remaining, but a two-minute 8-0 run by E-Town put the Blue Jays back up by 17 and they eventually held on for the 80-62 win.
