How It Happened
GRANTHAM, Pa. – Two first-half goals powered No. 7 Messiah past Lebanon Valley in the MAC Commonwealth Championship Tournament Semifinal round on Thursday night. The Dutchmen dropped to 9-6-3, while the Falcons advanced to the Championship game on Saturday against Arcadia.

Similar to these squads' regular season game, Messiah got on the board early, this time 4:44 into the match when Sunny Gelnovatch delivered a pass to Brooke Firestone and she was able to break away from defenders and score to give the Falcons the early one-goal advantage. Rileigh Jo Evitts had the Dutchmen's best chance to score midway through the first, when she was able to free herself from a Messiah defender and get a shot off from about 20 yards out, but the shot soared just over the crossbar.

LVC held the Falcons' offense in check, until the 44 minute mark when Firestone netted her second of the game after gaining control of the ball in the box after a short dribble. The Dutchmen shut out Messiah in the second half, just like the previous meeting, but were unable to generate enough offense and suffered the 2-0 setback.

Inside the Numbers
 - Messiah held the edge in shots at 18-1 and shots on goal at 7-0.
 - Emma Strickler kept the game close for LVC and made five stops.
 - The Falcons earned 14 corner kicks on the evening.

ECAC's Looming for LVC
The Dutchmen have put a bid on for the ECAC Tournament. LVC will find out on Monday when and where they'll be playing.
